Cinnamon-Related Product Retail Shop

The tourism industry is a major pillar of Sri Lanka’s economy, contributing significantly to foreign exchange earnings, job creation, and regional development. Sri Lanka, renowned for its high-quality cinnamon, plays a special role in promoting the identity of our country through authentic Ceylon cinnamon.

To enhance global recognition of Ceylon Cinnamon, strengthen exports, and empower rural communities, the Department of Cinnamon Development has initiated a program to promote products with added value from cinnamon-related industries in tourism zones. This program aims to support entrepreneurs in producing higher-quality products and generating increased income by continuously providing the necessary assistance.

Targeting the Mirissa tourism zone, the promotion of Ceylon Cinnamon was launched on January 10, 2025, by Jaith Ceylon Cinnamon Pvt Ltd at the “Mirissa House” Hotel premises. The event was attended by the Director General of the Department of Cinnamon Development, members of the Sri Lanka Cinnamon Protection Geographic Indicator Association, Owners of several tourist hotels in the Mirissa region, along with a number of tourists.

The head office of the Department of Cinnamon Development was established in Karandeniya, Galle district. Among the department’s first major projects is the Cinnamon Gate project in Pinnaduwa, Galle.
