In a significant move to expand its field operations, the Cinnamon Development Department officially opened its first regional office on July 1, 2025. The office is located on the 6th floor of the Gampaha District Secretariat and was ceremonially declared open by the department’s Director General, Mr. Janaka Lindara.

This new regional office will oversee and coordinate cinnamon development activities across the Gampaha, Kegalle, and Kurunegala districts. It marks a major milestone in the department’s strategic plan to strengthen grassroots-level operations and ensure more efficient service delivery to stakeholders in the sector.

Looking ahead, the department plans to establish similar regional offices in other areas of the country. These initiatives aim to further enhance field-level engagement and accelerate the development of Sri Lanka’s cinnamon industry.
